Icy Lakefront

Icy Lakefront

Winter in Chicago provides some incredible cityscapes. Sunrise has always been, and continues to be, my favorite time of day. There is something extra special about watching the city come alive as the sun slowly creeps up over the horizon. It becomes even more impressive when coupled with mounds of snow and giant plates of floating ice in the lake. On this particular morning it was cold and quite windy, but the view made it all worth it. Initially the skyline was topped with grey clouds and a less-than-impressive sky. And then, patience paid off. The winds picked up and blew out the grey clouds to reveal a brilliant, bright blue sky.
